Deciding between careers

It’s Hermann Rorschach’s 129th birthday today and since Google enticed me to want to learn a little bit more about this inventive man, I read his bio on Wikipedia.

Turns out that, just like so many of us, he didn’t know what to choose as a career, art or science. Something a lot of us are faced with. It’s funny, you see people go to work everyday, not realising what internal struggles and sacrifices went on before they decided to go for that one job.

There is something wrong with how this is set up though, think about it… people have gifts and talents, many of those unique and powerful. Instead of harnessing that power on the workfloor, we try to make every one fit in a little restricted box, filtering the potential so it is only able to shine in one direction. And there… we lose a lot, because it is just that combination, of that individual that can be a breakthrough and a success for the company. Mr. Rorschach being a perfect example of this, he saw a way to combine his talents and that is what really put him on the map.

Luckily, there are those managers amongst us that try to poke little hole’s in the restricted box, allowing individuals to shine in the most unlikely places. Shine on!

In my previous post, I promised that I would share with you my voyage. I won’t be sharing it in a linear way, I will give my inspiration the freedom to share what is in my heart today.

I was working on Feel Good Space’s facebook and as part of that, looking for strong, inspirational video’s. I came across this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0KYU2j0TM4

An inspirational video about how it is ok to be introvert, even though today’s world isn’t always as embracing towards the more quiet and timid. The ones that live in their own world. It’s ok, more than ok, it holds treasures of it’s own. Deep gems.

I consider myself to be an extrovert/introvert. Growing up, at school, I was always an introvert, and that made hard to make friends, so I ended up a lot of time on my own. quiet, polite, a great observer. Now, when I went to school, that was what they liked to see. Quiet, polite children who just got on with it and studied. In today’s world however, this is completely different. My little niece is a lot like me, she is very quiet, will always observe from a distance. This seems to worry teachers and parents. When it shouldn’t. Because that world of their own, creates so much power and knowledge. The power of observation and solitude leeds to diplomacy, vision, open mindedness and it’s where true passion comes from! It is how you discover who YOU really are!!! So please, let your children discover who they really are.

Don’t get me wrong, it is nice to have friends. Especially as a teenager, I recall those nights where I felt so utterly alone, no where to go, no one to call, and yes, I was lonely. But would I do it differently? no, it made me into who I am. and you know, I really do like me.

That introverted little girl was the source to why I am such a great interviewer, the source of my integrity and honesty. And because it is so deeply rooted, people feel that. They pick on it. And when you find your extroverted side (or force yourself to find it, because you are so passionate that you know that is the only way to reach your goals) – then you will shine and strike that balance between in and extrovert.

You are the creator of your day!

“you are the creator of your day!”

It took me a while to realize what that meant and to an extent I am still learning what that really means. In my mind, I have always been a strong believer in taking responsibility, being independent and not letting anything or anyone else influence my life.

When it came to the outside world, I think i have managed pretty well. All the knocks of life did some damage at the time, but they shaped me into a better, and improved me.

But, only recently I am starting to discover to what extent I am responsible for my own life. I actually hold the power to CHOOSE what I want to do, be, experience in this world. There is really nothing that I ‘have’ to do, they are all choices.

I can choose to go to work every day, I can choose to make that into a duty, something I feel like I have to do, and I can choose to lie to myself a little every day. Or, I can choose to truly believe what so many successful people have discovered and learn what I love. and choose to do what I love. And make that the start of another exciting voyage to embark on.

What I have always done, naturally, without effort and without realizing it, is inspiring people. And finally I love myself enough to truly see that. The hundreds of message on youtube or facebook, never really made that click, but now I see that I do have the possibility to inspire others. and the great thing is, I can do it by just being me. I don’t have to be an expert, I don’t have to put myself on a pedestal, I can just be me.

That is what I love about me, I can keep that humility but still be strong, be true to myself, have faith in myself and create a powerful force, just being true to the love in my heart.

Feel Good Space is all of that, helping you find your space, discover who you really are and then learn to discover the beauty in you, your power that will lead to you creating a space for yourself that you are truly happy in.

Feel good Space will show you my inspiration, my influences, my discoveries and you can observe them and make them into your own. and that is the key, make them into your own!

What is empowering for me, might not always be empowering for you, but following my discoveries and how I made those realizations, THAT will be what can help you to make your own realizations.

I am creating my life’s masterpiece, with my brush, my paint, my strokes. You are creating your masterpiece, make sure you do it on your canvas, with your brush and your unique blend of colors!

Enjoy!
